A number of Premier League clubs are already interested in signing Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic and now as per Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have also joined the race.

The report claims: “Norwegian central defender Kristoffer Ajer, 22, is in the orbit of Real Madrid. That is what they assure in England where they explain that the great teams of the Premier and some of the rest of Europe, such as PSG or Real Madrid, are closely following this 1.97-meter-tall central defender.

“Kristoffer Ajer is Norwegian like Odegaard and they point out that it was the Real Madrid player who recommended his compatriot, according to Central Defense.”

English clubs like Leicester, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and even Manchester City have shown interest in signing Kristoffer Ajer at the end of the current season but now with the entry of Real Madrid, these PL clubs could very well take a back seat.

Will Real Madrid be able to sign Kristoffer Ajer?

Firstly, if Real Madrid come calling there’s there’s no way Celtic will be able to hold onto their centre-back beyond the summer.

As per the report, Zidane is looking at Ajer as the long-term replacement to Sergio Ramos which is a really big task. But at the same time, the 22-year-old will not get an instant slot in the starting line-up if he does move to Spain.

The entry of Real Madrid will be bad news for all the four interested Premier League clubs since if the Los Blancos are serious then there’s a big possibility the defender might snub all the interest from England and join the La Liga side in the summer.

Kristoffer Ajer has featured in 28 Premiership matches during the 2019-20 season and as per TransferMarkt, the centre-back is currently valued at €2.7 million. But with so many Premier League clubs and also Real Madrid interested in employing him, there’s no way Lennon will sanction a sale at such a low price.

But having said all this, the English clubs interested in Ajer will not lose optimism so easily since Real Madrid are expected to make a formal move for the Celtic man only if they fail to get Dayot Upamecano on board from RB Leipzig.
