Arsenal and Manchester United have been given a fresh boost in the signing of Samuel Umtiti from FC Barcelona ahead of the next season, as per Sport.

Up until now, the La Liga side had been demanding a fee of around £50 million for the centre-back but now as per the latest updates, they are willing to let him leave for just £25 million.

Sport are writing: “The Catalan team considers the incorporation of Lautaro a priority, but the coffers of the Catalan club are not at their best. To facilitate the operation, Barça has valued Umtiti at 30 million euros, a generous appraisal that would allow killing three birds with one stone.

“Arsenal and Manchester United have been interested in him for a long time, and the fact that there are several teammates in these teams also acts as a factor to be taken into account.”

Will Samuel Umtiti be joining a Premier League side?

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been heavily linked with the French international for a really long time but Barcelona want him to use as leverage in trying to sign Lautaro Martinez.

Barca are clearly in need of cash to fund Martinez’s arrival and given that Inter Milan are interested in Samuel Umtiti, the Catalans have lowered their demands for their out-of-favour defender so that Conte’s enticed to sign him up.

Thankfully, Barcelona do not care where Umtiti lands up meaning both the Premier League clubs have a bright chance of signing the centre-back at the end of the season.

The report though makes it clear that Samuel Umtiti is not too keen to move out of Spain in the summer and wants to fight for his place in the starting XI. But if Barcelona have made up their mind on selling him, there’s little the 26-year-old can do.

Manchester United and Arsenal can surely use a player like Umtiti next season but one major concern for both these clubs will be the fact that the defender has featured in only 11 La Liga matches this season.

This ongoing campaign, the centre-back has sustained three separate injury problems which have kept him on the sidelines for more than two months.
