Celtic FC are doing all they can in order to hold onto their current No 1 Fraser Forster, as per a report by Football Insider.

The report claims: “Celtic are planning to everything they can to try and sign Fraser Forster permanently this summer, Football Insider understands.

“Manager Neil Lennon and recruitment chief Nicky Hammond are agreed that converting Forster’s loan into a full-time transfer is one of their priorities.

“A Celtic source has told Football Insider that club chiefs will pull out all stops to find the funds for Forster but they are likely to have to sell before they can buy.”

Can Celtic FC hold onto Fraser Forster?

Forster is on loan at Celtic from Premier League side Southampton and there are a number of things which need to fall into place for Neil Lennon to be able to hold onto the keeper.

Firstly, the 32-year-old still has two years left on his current deal meaning the Saints are in no hurry to sell him off this summer.

Secondly, and most importantly, Southampton could ask for about £10 million for the shot-stopper which right now is a bit too extreme for the Bhoys. But if the club can manage to sell Odsonne Edouard for a lucrative transfer fee then keeping Forster permanently should not be an issue for Neil Lennon.

Fraser Forster has clearly been one of the best players for Celtic this season having kept 17 clean sheets in 39 games and we can understand why the manager is so keen to hold onto him for the upcoming season as well.
