Liverpool have finally been able to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich on a long-term deal and right now the biggest question is whether the Spaniard will play against Chelsea or not.

The official statement read: “Liverpool Football Club have completed a deal for the permanent transfer of Thiago Alcantara from FC Bayern Munich.”

Liverpool will take on Chelsea on Sunday and speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has made it perfectly clear that no midfielder should take his place for granted in the starting Xi.

And this statement is a clear indication that Thiago Alcantara could be in line to feature vs the Blues.

“They cannot all play in the same moment, that is true. But you cannot keep a player happy by yourself. I am not worried about that,” said Klopp, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

“If we have more than three midfielders, for example, and we play 4-3-3, then a couple of players will not start or come on. That is always the case. Some don’t have the opportunity to come on and that is the squad for a matchday, that is how it is.

“But my job is to show the players how important they are in pretty much every moment. In training, in the line-up, on the bench, or a week later in the same situation.

“I cannot prepare for a normal season when a season is not normal. That just doesn’t work. If everyone is fit, rotation is absolutely necessary because it just doesn’t work otherwise.

“We just have to try and make sure we can deal with this situation. So yes, I want my players happy but we cannot make them happy. They are a big part of that as well.”

Thiago Alcantara could truly turn out to be the signing of the summer in the English Premier League and Frank Lampard will surely be chalking up a plan with the Spanish international in mind for this weekend’s game.

Also, if Thiago gets to make his debut at the Bridge on Sunday then it will be interesting to see which midfielder drops back to the bench in order to make way for the Champions League winner.
