Arsenal are set to leave Shkodran Mustafi this summer and reports suggest that Emery is planning to bring in William Saliba as a replacement.

William Saliba currently plays for Ligue 1 side St Etienne and last season the centre-back managed to play in only 16 league games for the French side.

But despite having limited appearances, the youngster is believed to have real potential and both Arsenal, as well as Spurs, are interested in signing him this summer.

Last week it was being reported that the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign William Saliba.

“Mustafi has been a fine servant to the club but last season, the centre-back had a very mediocre time which has convinced Emery to dispose of him.

“And now that William Saliba is on the verge of joining Arsenal(at the time of writing this article) many believe that the 18-year-old is set to become the long-term replacement for Mustafi.

“As per reports, the Gunners are paying 30 million euros for William Saliba but will not see the player for the whole of next season.”

Now though it seems that Arsenal are yet to finalise a deal and talks are still ongoing.

In the meantime, Spurs are said to be in ‘active discussions’ with William Saliba and Pochettino feels that he can bring the defender onboard during the summer transfer window.

While Arsenal are said to be the frontrunners in this transfer but unlike the Gunners, Spurs will be playing in the Champions League next season which could give the Lilywhites are a significant boost.

Having said that though, Arsenal still feel they will be able to secure a deal for William Saliba by luring him in with a hefty wage offer along with a five-year deal.
