Wolves had a fine 2018-19 season as they managed to finish 7th on the league table just behind the big names.

And Nuno Espírito Santo will be eager to replicate that same form this time around and their first match of the new season will be against former champions Leicester City.

While fans expect Wolves to break into the top six but the pundits know that the first focus of the manager will be to maintain the same level of consistency more so since the likes of Everton and West Ham United are expected to have a crack at the top half of the table.

Wolves news vs Leicester City:

Wolves have had a busy summer transfer window bringing in as many as eight new players the biggest of them was obviously the permanent signing of Raul Jimenez for a fee of €38 million.

Jimenez though picked up a foot injury during the Crusaders game and immediately there were doubts over his participation during the first game of the season.

But the Wolves boss has come out to make it clear that the player is ok and will be available for selection.

Santo said: “He had a big knock [against Crusaders], he’s had a couple of days of recovery, but he’s okay now. He’s ready to go.”

22-year-old defender Jesus Vallejo was brought in on a loan deal from Real Madrid but while some rumours claim that the player will feature vs the Foxes but we believe the player will take some time to adjust to life in the Premier League.

This means that Bennett, Connor Coady and Willy Boly will make up the three-man backline for Santo.

There had been doubts over the availability of Matt Doherty as well as the right-back is suffering from a knee injury but the Wolves manager has made it clear that the player is making good progress and will also travel for their Europa League qualifiers clash on Thursday.

“Matt’s going to travel with us,” the manager said.

“He had a knock, with a problem, but he didn’t lose his shape. He started this week and he’s doing very well.”

Diogo Jota picked up 10 goals and made 7 assists in all competition for Wolves last season and this year the centre forward has already managed to rack up 1 goal and two assists in Europe.

So it is safe to say that the Portuguese will feature upfront when Wolves take on Leicester City on Sunday.

Wolves predicted XI vs the Foxes:

Starting XI: Rui Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Jonny Castro; Jimenez, Diogo Jota.
