Zlatan Ibrahimovic injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic came into Manchester United after leaving PSG and the Swede ended up being an influential figure for the Red Devils.

After having a super successful time with the Parisian giants, everyone expected Zlatan to move to the MLS just like many old players do.

But then Ibra has always been known to do things differently and instead of heading to a mediocre league, Zlatan chose to try his mettle in the Premier League.

And now that the Swede has finally moved to the MLS, he was asked about Man United’s constant mediocrity ever since Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement.

And to this, Zlatan told the Mirror: “Everything that happens is judged by the era of Ferguson.

“They are saying if Ferguson was here, this would not happen, Ferguson would not do it like that. Ferguson would do it like this. Everything was Ferguson.

“If it was me, I would say I don’t have Ferguson anymore. And I come here and I want to make my own history, I want to make my own story.

“So I do not want to hear what happened before. I want to do it in the present. You come in with a new mentality.

“Ferguson has his place in history at this club but now the club continues. It has to find its own identity and it is difficult.”

Zlatan did manage to make an impact at Old Trafford during his short stay at the club but these comments of his have not gone down too well with the Man United faithful.

Many fans have blasted Zlatan on social media for his ‘rude comments’ and while the former PSG man thinks Man United cannot get over the Sir Alex philosophy we assure you that he is wrong.

Playing attacking football, involving youngsters, playing for the supporters and entertaining them are things that Sir Alex had brought into the side.

Instead, these traditions have been embedded at the club since the times of Sir Matt Busby so much like a lot of previous managers Sir Alex simply inherited these when he came to United. And he got rather good at these.

So it is natural the next manager who comes in should also take up these philosophies.

As Sir Matt Busby famously said:

“At Manchester United, we strive for perfection and if we fail we might just have to settle for excellence.”
