Arsenal have reportedly agreed to let go of Alexis Sanchez by the end of this month if suitors Manchester City are willing to pay a fee of £35 – £40 million.

Manchester City were initially willing to pay £25 million for Alexis Sanchez since the Chilean has only 6 months left on his current contract. But the Gunners have made it clear that they will not let the forward leave for anything less than £35 million.

Just a couple of days back, Arsenal were hesitant to let Sanchez leave claiming that they need to find a suitable replacement first. But now suddenly the London outfit’s willingness to let Alexis Sanchez move could only mean that Arsenal have already found a replacement.

Reports are suggesting that Arsene Wenger wants to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City in order to replace the outgoing Alexis Sanchez. Wenger is a huge admirer of the Algerian International and has already tried signing the player a couple of times in the past.

But if Arsenal really want to sign Mahrez then they will have to pay atleast £55 million for his services – meaning they need to add an excess £20 million out of their own pockets after selling Alexis Sanchez.

The Evening Standard are reporting that Manchester City are preparing a £40 million pound bid for Alexis Sanchez while a couple of other publications are claiming that the bid will be £35 million.

So two things are very evident from this news.

  1. Arsenal will not let Sanchez leave under a fee of £35 – £40 million.
  2. Alexis Sanchez is joining Manchester City by the end of January.
