According to the Independent, Arsene Wenger has accepted a £25 million bid from Liverpool to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Wenger is desparately trying to hold on to both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Two of his star players at Arsenal. And in order to do so he will have to pay out substantial amounts of money to them in the form of wages.

And offloading a bunch of players from the squad seems to be the only way to cut expenses. According to the report, Wenger could look to sell as many as nine players in this transfer window. And Chamberlain is supposedly the first of the lot.

Jurgen Klopp has been a huge admirer of the English International. And picking up such a talent at just £25 million is nothing short of a bargain for the Reds.

Chamberlain to Liverpool
Arsene Wenger has decided to sell Chamberlain to Liverpool in order to keep Sanchez at the club.

But on the other hand, Wenger has no other option but to clean up his closet, if he wishes to keep his star players in London. Both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are supposed to be offered new deals at the club which will see a hike in their wages. This is mainly to neutralise the offers that have been made to both the players from other clubs.

Mesut Ozil is another player that has been linked with a move out of Arsenal.

Both Manchester City and Bayern Munich are in hot pursuit of Alexis Sanchez are they are ready to offer the player as much as £300,000 per week in the form of wages.

And selling players Chamberlain to Liverpool is the only option for Wenger to be at par with his rivals. Simply because Arsenal will not be able to recover these amounts from TV rights and commercials as they will not be playing in the Champions League this season.

Players like Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson are all set to be shown the door in the coming few weeks.
