Chelsea show interest in Man Utd’s long-term transfer target

By the looks of it, Manchester United look to have beaten Chelsea to Romelu Lukaku with the Belgian International expected to sign for Jose Mourinho’s side in the coming week.

This will surely have left Chelsea a bit rattled. Lukaku was always expected to return back to Chelsea. The team that he had left in 2014 in order to join Everton. But now it looks as if Man Utd have won this battle.

But Antonio Conte and Chelsea have decided to turn the tables on United in order to level things up. According to reports, Chelsea have shown interest in United’s long-term target James Rodriguez. United manager Jose Mourinho has been hoping to sign Rodriguez for a few months now. The 25-year-old has found it increasingly difficult to cement his place at Real Madrid, having played only 32 games in the whole of last season. And now Zinedine Zidane feels that the Colombian is of no use to his future plans.

Up until now, Manchester United looked to be the front runners in signing the player. But now it looks as if the situation has changed with Chelsea reportedly entering the race. As per the report, Chelsea have decided to fund the transfer of Rodriguez from the money they receive by selling Diego Costa.
