According to the latest reports, Chelsea still has a very strong chance of signing Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam next summer.
The Blues have been chasing the Algerian International for a couple of seasons now and this summer the gossip had picked up quite a rapid pace but eventually, Conte decided to move for Alex Sandro. And now that the Alex Sandro interest has vapourised into this thin air, it looks like the Chelsea boss will have another go at signing Ghoulam from Napoli.
Ghoulam, 26, joined Napoli back in 2014 from Saint-Étienne and since then the left-back as established himself as one of the mainstays in the Ciucciarelli’s defence.
The Algerian has two years left on his current contract and has a release clause of €18 million. And the reports suggest that Napoli are willing to sell the player if a club can meet the transfer price.
While we feel that Cone will go back for Alex Sandro next summer but Faouzi Ghoulam can certainly serve as an ideal replacement if that did does not work out again.
