Man City take on Leicester City in Matchweek 3 of the Premier League and manager Pep Guardiola is one nervous man right now.

The Citizens have managed to pick up a win in their season opener last weekend but the Spanish boss has come out to claim that he currently has only 13 fully-fit first-team players for the game on Sunday.

Guardiola said, as reported by talkSPORT: “Well, the situation we have right now, we have just 13 players available in the first team. We need the Academy, not just for the training sessions. They can be selected during the games.

“With the problems we have up front, of course Liam will stay with us. We’ll see if we need him or use him.

“But we cannot forget, like the same way we spoke about Phil Foden in previous seasons, he’s just 17 years old. He has a lot of things to improve, steps need their own time.”

Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Olksandar Zincheko are all unavailable due to various injuries while Ilkay Gundogan is still recovering after testing positive for COVID-19.

Ayemric Laporte is not match-fit yet meaning John Stones will once again start in central defence alongside Nathan Ake.

Pep Guardiola should be able to name a strong enough Xi on Sunday but there’s no doubt that he will have a depleted bench.

And with the kind of form that Leicester City are in right now, Brendan Rodgers will be looking at nothing but three points when the Foxes visit the Etihad.
