Premier League side Manchester City along with Real Madrid are currently the two frontrunners at signing striker Erling Haaland from Dortmund, according to Bild as cited by MARCA.

Haaland’s deal with Dortmund expires in 2026 but as per several reports, the forward is eager to leave the club at the end of this season. While several clubs have been linked with the Norwegian, City and Madrid are said to be the two sides who are standing at the front of the queue.

Erling Haaland joined BVB in January of 2020 and this season, he’s netted 16 goals in his 14 Bundesliga appearances. He has been on fire since moving to Germany as he’s scored 80 goals in 79 appearances across all competitions.

Are Real Madrid and Man City the only suitors?

Real Madrid are planning to bring in Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from PSG and Perez thinks Erling Haaland will be the perfect attacking partner for the French international next season.

Man City are also in need of a world-class centre-forward and signing a new striker is one of Guardiola’s top priorities next summer. But all these plans could be foiled because Barcelona are said to be the latest entrant in this race.

As per Marca, Barca are interested in signing the forward but it remains to be seen if they can pull off this deal amidst such a major financial crisis.

Which club should Erling Haaland choose as his next destination?

The opportunity to play alongside Kylian Mbappe could be a hard offer to resist but we think Erling Haaland will be best suited at Manchester City.

City have been playing without a recognized centre-forward this season so if Haaland joins them he will be a guaranteed starter. At Madrid, he will still have Benzema as competition but at City, he will be the undisputed first-choice centre-forward.

Also, Manchester City are easily one of the best football teams in Europe right now and by joining them, Erling Haaland will at least be guaranteed some domestic silverware.

Barcelona can very well turn out to be the dark horse in this transfer race and since Mbappe is coming as a free agent, Real Madrid will also give this one a genuine crack but we have a feeling it’s Manchester City who are eventually going to get their hands on the 21-year-old.
