Arsenal beat Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend and once again Aaron Ramsey was in the thick of things.

The Welshman will be leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the season but with each passing game, the midfielder is showing that the decision to let him go was a really bad decision one.

The Gunners were ready to provide a new deal to Aaron Ramsey last year but then it was Unai Emery who pulled the plug on the deal thinking that the midfielder has no place in his squad.

But fast forward a couple of months, Unai Emery cannot seem to name a teamsheet without Aaron Ramsey.

The player has been giving it his all for the team and against Chelsea, the Welshman once again proved what a big mistake the Gunners will be making.

Forget giving him a new deal, what is bothering the fans, even more, is that the club have chosen to let him leave for free.

A few people have urged Unai Emery to provide a new deal to Aaron Ramsey in order to entice him to stay at the club beyond the summer.

But now the manager has responded to all those requests.

Emery said: “We spoke about the circumstance with Ramsey three months ago and now the decision is finished for him and for the club.

“Yes, of course, his future is very important for his family but it is also very important for him to be OK to play for us like he did against Chelsea.

“I am very happy with him because in the last month his focus has been very clear.

“Two weeks ago when we travelled to Blackpool where the atmosphere was difficult and the pitch was not good, he said to me ‘I want to play and help this team’.

“That is the spirit I want to see and I didn’t need to ask him because I knew he wanted to play against Chelsea and he helped us with his quality.”

Arsenal will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup this weekend and it is more or less certain that Aaron Ramsey will once again feature in the first XI.
