Adrian surprisingly became Liverpool’s No 1 keeper when Alisson Becker picked up an injury during the first game of the season.

The Brazilian played in the Copa America during the summer but Klopp had revealed that he was fit to play vs Norwich during gameweek 1 of the Premier League.

But during the 36th minute of the match, Alisson slipped while taking a spot-kick and had to be taken off the pitch to be replaced by summer signing Adrian.

And speaking after the game, the Liverpool boss confirmed that Alisson had suffered a calf injury and would be out of action for the next couple of weeks.

This why is why Adrian was the first choice keeper on Wednesday vs Chelsea and ended up being the hero for the Anfield outfit by stopping Tammy Abraham from scoring from the spot.

But while celebrating, the keeper suffered an injury after a Liverpool fan tried to invade the pitch and during his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Adrian could miss the Saints match.

Speaking on Friday, Klopp said: “It would help him a lot if it was 100 per cent clear he can play tomorrow.

“When we were all together (celebrating after the match), a supporter jumped over something, was chased by some security guys, slipped and kicked his (Adrian’s) ankle. It’s crazy.

“Yesterday, it was swollen. Today I spoke to him and he said ‘it’s much better than yesterday’, but we have to see.

“Apart from that, it was a brilliant night for him, not only because of the penalty but also because of the game.”

With both Alisson and Adrian out of the picture, 35-year-old Andy Lonergan is likely to get his debut for the Reds on Saturday.

Lonergan, who had previously played for clubs like Leeds and Bolton was signed on a short-term loan deal after Alisson had picked up the injury.

And it looks like he is in line to replace Adrian in between the sticks vs Southampton.
