Manchester United winger Alexis Sanchez has come under heavy fire this season.

Under Jose Mourinho, the Chilean had a string of poor performances but everyone expected the scenario to change when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was named the new boss.

But even the caretaker manager does not seem to have faith in the player and right now, Alexis Sanchez is United’s second choice left winger after Anthony Martial.

Alexis Sanchez was particularly poor against PSG in the second half where he replaced an injured Martial.

And now fans and even pundits feel, the former Arsenal man was a poor buy and that Man United should sell him off at the end of the season.

But according to former Red Andrei Kanchelskis, Alexis Sanchez can very well succeed at Man United.

Here’s why:

Speaking exclusively to 888sport, Kanchelskis said: “Sanchez is in a different situation now. Being coached by Mourinho and being coached by Solskjaer is very different.

“Now he is playing in a different system and is being told that he is wanted. As a winger, that to me is everything.

“A coach has two choices with Sanchez. They can either say ‘I want you’ or ‘I don’t want you’.

“Everybody talks about Sanchez, saying ‘he had a poor game on Saturday blah blah blah’ but really it comes down to the coach and their attitude.”

“I hope Manchester United win[vs Liverpool].

“I’m a big supporter of them of course. It will be a good story if United win, with them having won so many trophies and Liverpool not winning a title for 29 years.

“Now that Liverpool have a good chance at winning silverware, it would be good if United can help stop them. It would be great. Everybody around the world will be watching this game.”

Man United have confirmed that Anthony Martial still remains a doubt for Sunday’s clash vs Liverpool and there is a huge possibility that Alexis Sanchez will get to start.
