Liverpool played in the Champions League final last season and it is fair to say that one of the main reasons why they lost was due to their keeper Loris Karius.

So during the summer, Jurgen Klopp wasted no time and spend £66.8million in order to bring in Alisson Becker from AS Roma making him the world’s most expensive keeper.

And this season, Alisson has already proved he is worth every penny.

Manchester City too had a similar problem when Guardiola took over as the former Barcelona man chose to replace then No 1 Joe Hart with Claudio Bravo.

Obviously, this experiment did not work very well and City had to once again splash money in the transfer market in order to sign Ederson Moraes.

And Ederson along with Alisson Becker are right now amongst the top keepers in the Premier League and according to former Spurs No 1 Heurelho Gomes, the Liverpool shot-stopper is a better keeper than Ederson.

Here’s why:

“Alisson Becker is a very good shot-stopper but he can also play very well with his feet which is important for the way Liverpool play,” Gomez told the BBC.

“I believe he is a complete goalkeeper, that’s why he is playing for Liverpool.

“[Alisson and Ederson] are both similar, to be honest, they are both similar players. At the moment Alisson [is better] because I believe he’s more complete than Ederson.”

When Liverpool chose to spend so much money on signing Alisson a lot of eyebrows were raised but now it is safe to say that the Brazilian is one of the main reasons why the Reds have stopped leaking goals this season.

But one thing that Ederson is a master at is his long accurate passes which on many occasions have directly contributed to counter attacks and now it has reached a point when the Man City forwards immediately start making runs since they know Ederson will manage to find them.
