Rangers FC new boss Steven Gerrard looked to his former club Liverpool during the summer transfer window as he brought in a handful of players from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Gers signed Jon Flanagan on a permanent deal while they acquired youngster Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent on loan spells from Anfield.

And amongst these players, the one who has clearly stood out up until now has been winger Ryan Kent.

Kent so far has made 11 appearances under Steven Gerrard and he alongside Alfredo Morelos is one of the first names on the manager’s team sheet.

Playing most of his games out on the left-wing, Ryan Kent has scored one goal and provided one assist with many tipping the player for greatness during the coming seasons.

And now even David Weir has come out to claim that the youngster is a unique talent who is capable of playing at England’s highest level.

“I’m not surprised,” Weir told the Scottish Sun.

“It’s brilliant to see Allan playing, still, at such a high level.

“He’s a Premier League keeper in my opinion. Look at the save he made for Scotland against Albania last week. At 1-0, that’s an unbelievable save — but that’s what he does. He has done that right throughout his career.

“You can talk about the Rangers manager having that winning mentality, but Allan McGregor is exactly the same. Everyone wants to win, but it requires people willing to go that extra yard to actually make it happen.

“He’s fit, he’s highly motivated and I don’t know, maybe he has a point to prove.”

Ryan Kent has also praised his manager revealing the amount of faith Steven Gerrard has shown in him since he arrived at Ibrox and now all he wants to do is repay the manager’s faith in him.
