Arsenal are set to play their first game in the Europa League this Thursday when Unai Emery’s side take on Ukranian side Vorskla.

The manager is set to make a series of changes to his first eleven with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil expected to be rested but one area of the pitch is sure to give Unai Emery a bit of a headache.

We are talking about the left-back area.

Unai Emery’s first choice left-back Sead Kolasinac is out with a knee injury and is not expected to return before next month which meant that Nacho Monreal was filling up that role up until now.

But Monreal has already played four 90 minute games for Arsenal meaning the manager is surely planning to give him some much deserved rest during the midweek clash.

In such a scenario, versatile midfielder Maitland-Niles would have taken up the role at left-back but the 21-year-old himself is sidelined with a broken leg.

In such a scenario it will be interesting to see whether Unai Emery selects Nacho Monreal for his first successive outing and risk him getting injured or does he make an unorthodox decision and play a right right-back in that position.

Arsenal’s first choice keeper Petr Cech is also expected to be rested during the game vs Vorskla which means Bernd Leno will make his first-team debut for Arsenal.

Apart from resting Petr Cech, Unai Emery will hopefully be reshuffling his midfield area meaning a number of his second choice players will get a run-in on Thursday.
