Spain bowed out of the World Cup in rather embarrassing fashion after losing to Russia on penalties.

And even though the whole of the Spanish team performed poorly during the game it seems like David De Gea has been made the scapegoat of the tournament.

De Gea honestly had an average outing during the 2018 World Cup but the fans have started criticising him for the fact that he was unable to save even a single penalty during the shootout despite being the number one keeper in the world.

After the defeat, De Gea put out a post on social media where he thanked the Spanish fans as well as apologized to him for the exit and the shot-stopper chose to say all this in a no holds barred manner.

De Gea wrote: “To whom supported, criticised us with respect and suffered with us, thanks. We’re f***** but we’ll get up again and never give up.”

And just as people were digesting De Gea’s message in popped a reply from his Manchester United teammate and fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera.

Herrera wrote: “The best goalkeeper in the world. Come quickly to Manchester United. We have big things to achieve ahead. Hug Friend”

David De Gea is known to be close to the Spanish contingent at Manchester United especially Ander Herrera and Juan Mata. And this tweet for Ander just goes to prove how highly the goalkeeper is rated at Old Trafford.

And it’s not only Ander Herrera but also Jose Mourinho who has come out and stood firmly beside his No 1.
