Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as Frank Lampard looks to bring in a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

While the Blues have scouted players like Nick Pope and Manuel Neuer but they have came to the realisation that it will be really hard to convince these players to join them in the summer. Hence the interest in Onana.

The Ajax keeper though recently admitted that he would love to return back Barcelona, the club which he left as a youngster and this immediately pushed Chelsea on the back foot.

‘It’s hard to say because with FC Barcelona, I am still in very good relations with the president, the coaches,’ the Cameroonian told about his possible return to the Camp Nou, via Metro.

‘As I said earlier, Barca is my home. If I have to go back, I will go back.

‘But today we are still far from it. I’m the Ajax goalkeeper and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

‘I only take care of the ball game, what happens at the stadium. The rest is up to my agents who manage.’

But it seems Barcelona are perfectly happy with Marc-Andre ter Stegen right now and have no intentions of making a move for Andre Onana which is why the Ajax man is now considering moving to the Premier League next season.

Ajax have been willing to cash in on their current No 1 and according to The Telegraph, the Eredivisie side has finally set a price tag on him.

The report claims: “Ajax have set an asking price of at least £35 million for their goalkeeper André Onana, who is considering all options including running down his contract with the Dutch champions.”

This will undoubtedly be a big boost for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard since spending £35 million should not be a big problem for the London club this summer.

But before they can make a move for the Ajax No 1, the Blues have to find a buyer for Kepa Arrizabalaga since the manager would not want to keep an €80 million player on the bench for the whole season.
