Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Celtic centre-forward Odsonne Edouard at the end of the current season – as per reports.
Odsonne Edouard joined Celtic from PSG in 2018 for around €10.3 million and he has certainly been on fire ever since he moved to Scotland.
During the 2019-20 season, the 22-year-old has managed to score 21 goals and provide 12 assists in just 27 league games for Celtic and it seems like the Bhoys are willing to cash in on him during the summer.
The player has two years left on his current deal at Parkhead but Celtic are known to sell off their big players for a hefty profit in order to bring in fresh talent which means Arsenal have a very strong chance of signing him.
But as per the report, the Gunners are willing to pay around £25 million for the services of Odsonne Edouard which is surely an amount Celtic were not expecting.
Edouard has been one of the best players in Scotland over the past two seasons and there’s simply no way that Neil Lennon will allow the Frenchman to leave for that price.
The North London club are on the risk of losing Alexandre Lacazette to Barcelona in the summer and if that happens then they are bound to gather a hefty transfer fee from this move.
And this is one more reason why Celtic will jack up the price for Odsonne Edouard making it even more difficult for the Gunners to sign him.
Arsenal signed Keiran Tierney from Celtic last summer and they have to fork out about €27 million to sign him so if they are surely daydreaming if Arteta feels his club can sign someone like Odsonne Edouard in that same price bracket.
As things stand right now, Arsenal are not going to make it to the Champions League next season meaning Arteta will not be getting a big enough transfer budget to spend in the summer. So either he will have to ditch the plan of signing Edouard altogether or raise funds by selling off some of his current players.
Odsonne Edouard is Celtic’s most-prized possession right now that’s why there’s no doubt Lennon will try and do everything to squeeze out more money from Arsenal.
