Chelsea take on Brighton at home this weekend in the Premier League and Andreas Christensen wasn’t supposed to feature in this match.

The centre-back picked up an injury in Chelsea’s last Premier League game and as a result of this, he had to be taken off.

But now Frank Lampard has said in his team news update for the Brighton game that Andreas Christensen should be able to play with the pain during the weekend.

“Andreas should be okay. A bit of pain but not a risk,” Lampard told the press.

This will be a great boost for the Chelsea manager since using the pairing of Zouma and Tomori would have been a bit of a gamble at the back.

But now that Christensen will start in central defence it means Tomori should move back to the bench while Zouma returns back to the starting XI.

While speaking about the other injuries, the manager revealed that Antonio Rudiger has started jogging but he is still out.

Also, Olivier Giroud and both Emerson will miss the Chelsea vs Brighton match due to illness and a hamstring injury respectively.

“Rudiger, out. Toni has got a recurring injury in the groin, he still has some pain. Olivier, yes he is over his illness. It left him pretty weak and he has got some strength.

“Emerson, other side of international break with hamstring.

“Ruben, no date but he is jogging outside.”
