Tottenham Hotspur just a couple of weeks ago were active participants in the Premier League race.

But since then their graph has decided to take a nose dive.

While theoretically they still are in the title race but everyone knows that Pochettino’s men will never be able to cover that big a gap.

And now the manager has lost two of him key attackers to long term injuries.

First, it was Harry Kane who was ruled out for two months and now Spurs have also lost Dele Alli to a hamstring injury and initial reports suggest that he too will return sometime in March.

These injuries have prompted many transfer rumours and some are suggesting that Pochettino is looking at West Ham’s Andy Carroll as a short-term replacement for Harry Kane.

Currently Spurs only have one fit striker in the form of Fernando Llorente and the manager wants to bring in Andy Carroll to add that must-needed backup.

But according to former Hammer Tony Cottee, there is no way that Andy Carroll will be making the transfer across London.

Speaking to PlayOJO, the ex-Hammers star said(as reported): “West Ham and Spurs don’t normally do business together, I don’t think there’s the best of blood there.

“I can honestly say, hand on heart, I can’t see that one happening.”

“I don’t know whether he would fit into the Spurs style of play,

“I don’t know whether they would want to adapt their game to fit in with Andy Carroll. If you’re going to play him, you have to give him service.

“Although with Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier, there are two great crossers of the ball.

“Any player that is looking to go to Spurs has got to be prepared to sit on the bench and watch what is England’s best centre forward.

“I think that’s why it’s been hard for Tottenham to get another centre forward into the club.

“I know they’ve got Llorente there, but if you’re looking to come in as a forward, you’ll have to be patient and invariably, you’re going to be on the bench watching Harry Kane smash loads of goals in.”
