Arsenal take on Spurs in the North London Derby this weekend and speaking ahead of the match, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his side needs to stitch up a few things to keep their arch-rivals at bay.

According to the Gunners boss, the first and foremost thing his side will need to do is to stop conceding silly goals by strengthening up the back line on Sunday.

He said, as per Arsenal.com: “Well yes because the amount of chances we are conceding has been really low, but the amount of chances we have given to opponents has had a big impact in the goals that we have conceded.

“It depends on us a bit which is a really positive thing. But we know that it’s something we need to eradicate to be more consistent with results.”

Arteta also laid emphasis on the fact that his defenders will have almost an impossible task of keeping players like Kane and Son quiet but still, the job needs to be done.

He added: “Very difficult because the level of quality, precision, understanding and chemistry they have between them makes them probably one of the most teams in Europe. They don’t need much.

“They are able to create their own chances, they are able to link as a team. So it’s really difficult to do that, but we’ll prepare the game well to try to stop them, obviously.”

Arsenal play this Premier League fixture at home and they have managed to score only 16 goals in their 13 matches at the Emirates so far this campaign.

Spurs, on the other hand, have been in red-hot form away from home this season, scoring 21 goals in 13 league matches so clearly the likes of David Luiz and Pablo Mari will have their hands full.

Mikel Arteta knows where the threat’s going to come from on Sunday and maybe he even understands that it will be nearly impossible to keep a clean sheet. So the best his side can do is to score early goals and then put the onus on Spurs.
