Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery arrived at the Emirates with his own transfer wishlist and by the looks of it, a lot of players on that list are from Emery’s former club Sevilla.

After the signing of Lichsteiner from Juventus, Emery has turned his sights on Sevilla’s defensive midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

The French international is no stranger to the Premier League having played for clubs like Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City and the Gunners want to bring him back for a second stint in England.

Arsenal though will have to splash out £35 million if they wish to acquire the services of N’Zonzi which also happen to be his release clause at Sevilla.

But as things stand the Gunners are yet to make a formal offer for N’Zonzi and this was made clear by Sevilla’s director of football Joaquin Caparros.

Caparros told Radio Sevilla: “Is that a rumour or is it true?

“Has Unai Emery called you? Well, as a successful man, Unai Emery knows what line the club keeps.

“If he wants N’Zonzi, he will have to call and put the bid in. And the bid is the clause. If you put that bid in, then there are no more negotiations [over the fee].”

Caparros also made it clear that the club has no intention of selling Steven N’Zonzi during the summer even if Arsenal do make a formal offer of 35 million pounds.

“We could even extend the contract if the coach gives the green light. Everything is possible,” Caparros added.

Steven N’Zonzi’s current contract with Sevilla expires in 2020 and the defensive midfielder last signed a contract extension on January 31, 2017.
