Dani Ceballos joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid last summer but the attacking midfielder has endured a really rough season in Premier League.

So far he’s featured in only 14 Premier League games for the Gunners and in the first half of the season, it was more or less certain that the player will be sent back to Spain. But over the past couple of months, things were certainly going uphill for the 23-year-old and he had even expressed his desire to remain at Arsenal beyond the summer.

Ceballos had said: “I finish my contract on June 30. I would have to play for Arsenal, I don’t know how [it would work].

“The relationship of the future would be irresponsible for me to speak about.

“The most important thing will be to be important for my new team. I came to Arsenal to be important and in less than a month it has disappeared.”

And even Mikel Arteta had positive things to say about Dani Ceballos which was a clear indication that the North London club might be making plans to sign him permanently.

Is Dani Ceballos staying or leaving Arsenal?

But now as per a report in El Confidencial, Arsenal have changed their minds and are not willing to hold onto Ceballos any longer, not on a permanent deal neither as a loanee.

The report claims: “The diagnosis of the experts is clear: his talent is unquestionable, although he needs to be more effective.

“Yes, this is something they are clear about in London, but the loan agreement with Real Madrid is until the end of this season, contrary to what some media have said there is no purchase option and, in principle, it is not planned Gunners request to extend their loan.”

This is certainly a huge setback for the attacking midfielder since Zidane too has no need of him right now meaning if he was to return back to Madrid then he will once again be loaned out.

It seems Arsenal no longer needs the services of Ceballos but we think before Arteta makes a final call, he will want to secure the signing of a new playmaker just to strengthen that area of the pitch for the 2020-21 season.
