The transfer window reopens next month and the Arsenal fans are a mixed bunch.

While they are hoping that their manager will bring in a replacement for Rob Holding but they are also fearing the fact that Mesut Ozil will be sold off.

Ozil has been snubbed by Unai Emery during the past couple of months and with each absence, rumours have been growing that the German is set to leave Arsenal during the January transfer window.

Clubs like Inter Milan and Real Madrid are said to be interested in signing Mesut Ozil but as per reports, no concrete offer has come to the Gunners.

While every major publication has been weighing Mesut Ozil’s options once he moves out of the Emirates, BBC pundit Garth Crooks feels Unai Emery is too smart to sell off his only world-class player.

“All these media soothsayers who insist Ozil might be surplus to Unai Emery’s requirements must be mad. Why would Emery allow his only world-class midfield player to leave the club?” Crooks told the BBC.

“No, Emery is much smarter than that. The manager may want a little more sweat from the former Germany international but as long as he keeps producing defence-splitting passes amid the rest of their midfield hectic mediocrity, Ozil is a must for Arsenal.”

Crooks is obviously making these remarks based on Mesut Ozil’s quality but to be very honest Unai Emery has been urging his players to play a fast-paced game which is just not the German’s style.

Yes, Mesut Ozil came up with a superb performance against Burnley but we doubt if the playmaker can play such a rapid game week in week out.

And on top of everything, the Gunners have been doing just fine without Mesut Ozil.
