Arsenal are looking to make a move for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella during the summer transfer window – as per reports.

The Gunners will lose Aaron Ramsey to Juventus at the end of the season and reports have it that Unai Emery wants to bring in Nicolo Barella as the Welshman’s long-term replacement.

The 22-year-old is primarily a central midfielder but has the capability of playing right behind the striker as well as in defensive midfield.

And many reports claim that this versatility of Nicolo Barella is what has attracted the attention of Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

During the 2018-19 season, the central midfielder has played in 26 Serie A games for Cagliari and over 90 per cent of these have been first team starts.

As per TransferMarkt, the midfielder is currently valued at €30 million which is a perfect bargain price for the Gunners given they will only have about 50 million odd pounds to spend during the summer.

But bringing Nicolo Barella to the Emirates will certainly not be a walk in the park for Emery since multiple reports have claimed that the North London club need to fend off interest from Chelsea.

The Blues tried to sign the midfielder during the January transfer window but the deal eventually collapsed.

But many sources have claimed that the Stamford Bridge outfit would be ready to go after Nicolo Barella once again at the end of the season – obviously depending on how the transfer embargo pans out.

If the transfer ban remains on the Blues during the summer then Arsenal will be practically running a one-horse race to sign Nicolo Barella from Cagliari.
