Rangers FC are reportedly eyeing a move for Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch – according to reports.
Dylan McGeouch started his youth career at Ibrox but in 2008 he went on to join the Celtic Boys Club.
And after spending seven years with the Bhoys, the midfielder left Celtic Park to sign for Hibernian.
Last year though, the midfielder moved to England when he joined Sunderland on a free transfer.
Initially, the length of his contract with the Black Cats was not revealed but now reports are suggesting that Dylan McGeouch might have signed only a one-year deal which means that he is free to leave the club this summer.
Dylan McGeouch had a frustrating season with Sunderland as he ended up playing in just 30 games across all competitions and he made only 14 starts for the club in the league.
A disappointing season means Sunderland are no longer interested in providing a new deal and Rangers reportedly want to sign him up during the summer transfer window.
The fact that Dylan McGeouch is available for free this summer obviously makes his an enticing option for Steven Gerrard but some experts feel that the Gers should not make this move.
As things stand, Rangers have an overload in the midfield area which means signing a new one will only increase the wage bill.
Steven Gerrard made a lot of signings last summer, but most of them turned out to be a failure. But given that this was his first season at Ibrox, fans easily forgave him.
This time around though, the fans will be more critical and any underrated signing like Dylan McGeouch will surely not be received will be the Ibrox faithful.
