Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal have both been linked with a move for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu and now it looks like the Gunners are the frontrunners to signing him in the summer.

The 19-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of big European clubs over the past couple of months and now as per Dutch football journalist Martijn Krabbendam, Arsenal have already made contact with Kokcu in a bid to sign him while fellow London club Chelsea are yet to make a call.

“There has been an offer from Feyenoord, and he has refused,” Krabbendam said, as reported.

“Feyenoord are offering something, and Kökcü wants more, you shouldn’t think that that boy is suddenly asking for millions.

“It’s no secret that Arsenal has already spoken to Kokcu’s agents, the Seville clubs are also very interested in the midfielder.

“Chelsea is still playing in the background. Also, the Italian clubs Atalanta and AS Roma are still very interested.”

Where will Orkun Kokcu land up next summer?

As per reports, the playmaker will be available in the market for a transfer fee of around £23 million making him a really lucrative signing. And maybe this is why Arsenal are in such a hurry to wrap up the deal.

The Gunners will be working on a really tight budget in the summer which is why a player like Orkun Kokcu can be of great use to Mikel Arteta in his process of rebuilding the squad.

But this move from Arsenal will be a big blow for Chelsea since Lampard too will be needing midfield reinforcements for the upcoming season.

Right now Chelsea are said to be close to signing Philippe Coutinho and maybe that is one big reason why the Blues are still pondering over a move for the Feyenoord youngster.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea are actually interested in signing the 19-year-old and if they are not, then the Arsenal could have a free run at signing him during the summer transfer window.
