Manchester United brought in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting during the January transfer window and now, FIFA are investigating into the said transfer – as per Marca.

The playmaker has been on Man United’s transfer wishlist for a really long time and finally, Solskjaer was able to get his hands on the Portuguese international at the start of this year.

Now, Fernandes’ former club Sampdoria have lodged a complaint with FIFA in which they have claimed that Sporting have not paid their dues.

“We can confirm that on April 3 the Italian club Sampdoria lodged a claim with FIFA against the Portuguese club Sporting Clube de Portugal related to financial obligations set out in the contract corresponding to the transfer of the Portuguese player, Fernandes,” FIFA said in a statement as reported by the Independent.

“The matter is currently being investigated and consequently we cannot provide further comments.”

Are Manchester United in trouble for signing Bruno Fernandes?

Bruno Fernandes joined Sporting from Sampdoria in 2017 for a fee of around €9.69 million and as per the Italian club, they had a 10% sell-on clause in the deal.

But now Sampdoria are claiming that Sporting have refused to pay this amount as the former contract has been deemed null and void since Bruno Fernandes signed a new deal in June 2018 after terminating the previous one.

So as things stand, Manchester United are not directly involved in this whole mess since the problem is between two of the player’s former clubs.

This would mean Bruno Fernandes will very much remain a Manchester United player and his time at Old Trafford will not be affected at all.

Since arriving from Portugal, Fernandes has featured in five Premier League games for the Red Devils, scoring two and assisting three goals in the process.
