Arsenal will take on Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend and the Gunners need to win this match to be able to hold onto that top spot and keep Man City at bay.

The Gunners have lost just three league matches this season and right now, they are eight points clear at the top of the table but they have played one game more. So effectively, the gap is just five points which means one stumble and Pep Guardiola’s side will come within touching distance.

Arsenal are scheduled to play Manchester City later this month so before that, the North London side cannot afford to drop any points. Thankfully, Arsenal are about to face Liverpool at the perfect time because not only are they in peak form but the Anfield outfit are going through a really rough patch themselves.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won their previous seven league matches whereas Liverpool are winless in their last four. After several years, the North London side will go into this tie as the favourites but they will have to be on their toes because this one’s an away game and Anfield can be a daunting place to go to.

Arsenal’s team news and injuries:

William Saliba missed the Leeds United game due to a lower back injury and the current reports are suggesting that he is going to miss the trip to Anfield as well.

Obviously, he has time to make a recovery but if he is absent then it’s going to be a massive blow for Mikel Arteta. Rob Holding did a great job against Leeds but holding Salah and co at Anfield is a totally different ask.

Saliba is the only one who is going to be touch and go because all the other injured players are ruled out. Tomiyasu, Eddie Nketiah and Elneny will all miss out.

We are not expected to see any major changes to the starting line up that faced Leeds because the Gunners have gotten a full week of rest.

Bukayo Saka did not start last weekend but the England international is surely coming back into the side. This change means either Martinelli or Trossard will have to move to the bench and now it will be interesting to see who misses out.

Both of them provided an assist against Leeds so this one’s going to be a really tricky call for the Arsenal manager.
