Arsenal host AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League this week and everyone expects Denis Suarez to make his first start for the Gunners.

Denis Suarez joined Arsenal during the January transfer window he has played only 38 minutes of football in the Premier League.

The midfielder has come on as a substitute on two occasions for the Gunners but he would have been expected to start vs the Cherries.

But it looks like that will not be the case after Unai Emery claimed that Denis Suarez is struggling hard to cope up with the Premier League.

“He is working every day, improving and knowing us,” Emery said.

“My philosophy is that adaptation needs time and after, little-by-little he will grow confidence and know his team-mates in training and after playing matches.

“For him, all the minutes he can get to help us are very important. On Sunday, for example, my idea was to give him some minutes, but after recent injuries, I cannot give him these minutes.

“But tomorrow is another opportunity.

“I think it’s not OK today to play 90 minutes because he needs rhythm, but one possibility is to start tomorrow knowing that – or, stay on the bench and after he can help us.

“And it’s the same with other players.”

It looks like Denis Suarez will once again start on the bench this midweek which means that Matteo Guendouzi could partner Granit Xhaka in midfield.

Earlier reports had suggested that Arsenal and Barcelona had agreed upon a deal wherein the Gunners could buy Denis Suarez permanently during the summer.

But if the midfielder cannot get any game time then it will be really hard for Unai Emery to convince the board that he is the right man to spend 17 million pounds on.
