Arsene Wenger left Arsenal at the end of the 2017-18 season after decades of services to the club and since then the Frenchman has been without a club.

While he has been linked to a number of jobs during the past season but nothing concrete has materialized yet

Arsene Wenger had been linked with clubs like Manchester United, Napoli and even the national team of Japan at one point in time but it looks like the Frenchman has his eyes set on a return back to the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez is out of contract at Newcastle United this season and despite most of the fans wanting him to stay on, the Spaniard still hasn’t made his mind up.

While some reports claim that he is likely to remain with the club as he is planning to sign a new contract, others though, are more fearful of the fact that Benitez has already made up his mind to head for greener pastures.

And now with the second option looming large, reports are claiming that Arsene Wenger might just take charge of Newcastle United in case Benitez refuses to sign a new deal.

While the Magpies fans would love to see someone like Arsene Wenger take charge of their club but this rumour is still very much in its initial phases.

A very big reason why Arsene Wenger might not take charge of Newcastle United is the fact that he had previously claimed that he did not wish to manage another Premier League club out of the respect he has for Arsenal.

That though could all change this summer in case Newcastle United can offer Wenger the chance to build his dream team – something that he had failed to do a couple of times during the final phase of his Arsenal career.

Apart from Arsene Wenger, a number of other European managers have been linked with the Newcastle job during the past few months but none of them carries the gravitas of Arsene Wenger.

Speaking the press last week though, Rafa Benitez dropped more positive hints about his career at St James’ Park but there still remains a doubt.

Newcastle United have already played their last home game this season and next up they travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in the final game of the Premier League.
