Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Arsenal have been trying really hard to make Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sign a new deal at the club and recently, their manager provided the fans with some positive news.

After winning the FA Cup, Mikel Arteta claimed that his club are confident about holding onto the Gabon international beyond the ongoing transfer window.

The manager said after the match: “Well, you asked me my opinion and that’s the feeling I get with conversations with him and his people, but obviously nothing is done yet and I want to enjoy the victory.

“Thanks to Auba again for the performance that he had and how much he helped the team.

“Everything is based on my conversations with him, how he sees his future, what I expect from him, the team that I want to build around him and the conversations I have with the people who are very influential around him.

“The club, we all respect and admire him, the players are all behind him. We know the players that we have and we have to value him. I think if we reach all of those points, we’ll make progress.

And now in a major update, journalist and broadcaster Julien Laurens has told ESPN FC that talks between the parties are heading in a positive direction and Aubameyang should be agreeing to the new deal pretty soon.

He said, as reported: “Certainly between the club and the player and his father as well, things seem to be going forward very well and very quickly and I do expect this one to go through maybe this week or at least at the beginning of next week.”

Winning the FA Cup has surely given the Gunners great leverage in holding onto Aubameyang and if Arteta can make his sign the new deal then it will surely be his best bit of transfer business after being named the Arsenal boss.

But if Aubameyang does agree to the new terms then he will also have to be given a pay rise meaning Arsenal have to offload high-earning players like Mesut Ozil asap.
