Emerson Chelsea
Emerson playing for Chelsea

Chelsea reportedly are willing to send Emerson to Juventus in the summer and they also might not have to try and sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

As per Metro, Juventus have already offered the services of Mattia De Sciglio to Chelsea in a swap deal for Emerson but the Blues have rejected the said arrangement.

The report claims: “Chelsea have rejected Juventus’ offer to swap Emerson Palmieri for Mattia De Sciglio, according to reports in Italy.

“Juventus have been chasing Emerson for several months and the full-back has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea under Frank Lampard. Chelsea are thought to be open to the idea of Emerson leaving in the next transfer window and Corriere Dello Sport claim the Blues have already turned down one proposal from Juventus.

“Chelsea are prepared to return to talks if Juventus offer up Sandro, with Lampard eager to secure a new left-back.”

Chelsea to withdraw from Ben Chilwell transfer?

The Blues have been eyeing a move for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell over the past few months but the Foxes are demanding an enormous transfer fee for the England international.

And maybe this is why Frank Lampard seems to have turned his focus to Alex Sandro.

Sandro has been with Juventus since 2015 and this season, the 29-year-old has played in 22 Serie A matches so far for the Old Lady.

While 23-year-old Ben Chilwell would have been a much better alternative for Emerson but the kind of money Leicester are demanding, it’s far beyond the reaches of Chelsea right now.

And since Juventus are also not willing to pay the £37 odd million being quoted for Emerson, Lampard might as well ask for a left-back in a swap deal for the Italian.

It’s still unclear if Juventus will agree to this swap deal or not since Alex Sandro still remains an integral part of Maurizio Sarri’s first XI but if the 29-year-old is coming to the Premier League, then Leicester will surely be able to hold onto Ben Chilwell beyond the summer.

And this should not be a major cause of concern for Brendan Rodgers since the full-back still has four years left on his current deal.
