Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been chasing Ben Chilwell for a really long time and now he finally might be able to sign the left-back – according to reports.

Lampard could lose both Emerson and Marcos Alonso in the summer which is why the manager is looking to bring in a new left-back. And for the longest time, Ben Chilwell has been eyed as the first choice replacement.

Chilwell has been in top form for Leicester City over the past couple of seasons and initially, there had been reports that Brendan Rodgers is not interested in parting ways with the England international.

But that stance has slowly changed over the weeks and now the Foxes are ready to accept a transfer fee of anything above £50 million.

While this is a steep price for one left-back but Chelsea do have the capability of paying it and chances are that they’re going to.

According to Dean Jones of Bleacher Report, Leicester City might already be planning for life without Chilwell.

The journo said in a Q&A: “They are lining up a load of signings, but almost all are already at the club! James Maddison is their top priority to sign a new contract while prized assets Caglar Soyuncu and Youri Tielemans are seen in a similar light. Talks are ongoing with Ben Chilwell, but he is a target for Chelsea and Man City. Leicester would sell at the right price.

“If Chilwell leaves, their plan—I am told—is to test Arsenal’s resilience by making an offer for Kieran Tierney.”

This is great news for Lampard as he will now be able to sign the 23-year-old and all he has to do is just pay the asking amount.

Chilwell is one of the best full-backs in the Premier League this season but paying £50 odd million for one player is a really risky bit of business especially since Chelsea need to sign other players as well.

Lampard’s said to be monitoring other full-backs but Leicester’s Ben Chilwell still remains at the top of his transfer wishlist for the summer.
