The 2018-19 Premier League season is about to start this weekend and this year’s league is expected to be one of the toughest in the past couple of years.

While Manchester City are favourites to defend their title but clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United will definitely give a tough fight to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Apart from who will win the Premier League, there is also a huge debate as to who will become the top scorer in the tournament.

And two-time Premier League winner, Dimitar Berbatov has named his three favourite players who might lift the Golden Boot next May.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov said: “I think the top Premier League goalscorer will be Harry Kane. It’s a tough call, there’s also [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang – because he had a solid first season in the league and will want to build that in his second season with a new coach.

“There’s Romelu Lukaku who performed well at the World Cup.

“Out of those three, I would have to say, Kane. He had a tremendous World Cup campaign, will have even more confidence in himself and these aspects help a striker.”

And this statement from the former Man United player has caused a fair bit of outrage amongst the fans and we can see why.

While naming his favourites to win the Golden Boot, Berbatov missed out on a number of players.

Mo Salah who was top scorer last season with 32 goals was not named by Berbatov and the striker also missed out on Sergio Aguero who ended the previous campaign with 21 goals.

Apart from missing the name of these two players, Dimitar Berbatov also mentioned Arsenal forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang who moved to England in January and many pundits feel that the Gabon International might not have the desired effect in his first full season of the Premier League season.
