This Man United defender could be heading out on loan: Where’s he off to?

Man United left-back Brandon Williams has been devoid of game time during the 2020-21 season and as per reports, the Red Devils have agreed to send him out on loan.

The academy graduate burst onto the scenes last season as he made himself more or less a regular starter in defence. But now with Luke Shaw’s return from injury and the signing of Alex Telles, the 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order.

Recently, reports in Germany had claimed that Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen were interested in signing Brandon Williams on a loan deal for the remainder of the season and then Sky Sports went on to claim that Southampton are also looking to make a similar arrangement.

While these rumours are still doing the rounds, another name has been added to the list with the Shields Gazette claiming that Newcastle United are planning to sign Brandon Williams on a loan deal.

Steve Bruce had recently admitted that his club’s looking to bring in new players during the January transfer window and it seems like the Man United full-back could be one of them.

“We’ve got one or two things (going on),” Bruce had said last week.

“We all know how difficult January is. Last year we brought in three loan signings which really, really helped us. That’s an avenue we’ll go down.”

Brandon Williams has played in only 1 Premier League game so far this season and that too for six minutes so clearly, the best option for him is to move out on loan until the summer.

The report suggests that the Magpies are currently making the most progress in signing the 20-year-old and if the likes of Leverkusen and Southampton do not move quickly then it will be Newcastle United who are likely to bag the deal in the coming weeks.
