Manchester United finally brought in midfielder Bruno Fernandes last month from Sporting Lisbon after chasing all throughout the summer.

The Portuguese has been a stellar performer for both club and country and Man United wanted to bring him on board before the start of the season. But eventually, his move was only wrapped up towards the end of the January transfer window.

Bruno Fernandes made his debut for his new club during the 0-0 draw against Wolves in the Premier League and most of the fans and pundits were happy with his outing.

And while former United man Dimitar Berbatov was also pleased with the display, he insisted that the attacking midfielder improve his physicality in order to survive in the Premier League.

‘Bruno Fernandes performed well on his debut against Wolves,’ the Bulgarian told Betfair via Metro.

‘He will need a few games to get used to the rhythm of the team but the Portuguese midfielder showed that he’s an intelligent player, with an eye for a killer pass and powerful shot.

‘As he grows into his role, I can see Fernandes controlling games.

‘But there were a couple of incidents that suggested he needs to work on the physical side of his game.

‘The Premier League is the most physical league, much tougher than the Portuguese league and faster too.

‘The signs are good for Fernandes and I am looking forward to United’s next match, following the winter break, to see how he slots into United’s system and if he can add creativity.’

Bruno Fernandes was the key performer for Sporting scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists during the first half of the season and Solskjaer will be hoping that the 25-year-old can have the same sort of impact for the Red Devils.
