Arsenal defender Calum Chambers spent the 2018-19 season out on loan to Fulham but now he is back to the Emirates.

The centre-back did not a pretty good season with the Cottagers playing 31 games in the Premier League and with that, a number of people expected that Unai Emery will hold onto him for the upcoming campaign.

Now though, it does not seem to be the case.

It is being reported that Lazio are interested in signing Calum Chambers from Arsenal and they are confident that the North London club would agree on a transfer this summer.

The same report also cites that the Serie A club are confident that a bid of around £12 million should be more than enough to secure the services of the defender.

But should Unai Emery really sanction the transfer at the above-mentioned price since the Gunners had paid £16 million to Southampton for the transfer of Calum Chambers back in 2014?

The 24-year-old was named Fulham’s player of the season which means he has shown his potential at Craven Cottage and some experts feel that Unai Emery should make use of him next campaign rather than selling him off at a loss.

Also, Calum Chambers is out of contract at the Emirates in 2022 which means Arsenal should be in no hurry to offload him.

But all said and done, it looks like Unai Emery is desperate to raise funds for the summer transfer window and right now any amount of money he gets from selling unwanted players seems to be a lucrative deal for him.

Calum Chambers might very well have been used sparingly next season but it looks like Emery has made up his mind.

As of now, Lazio have made no formal approach for the transfer of the defender but the Serie A outfit are planning to wrap up the transfer by the end of next month.
