Can this man become the next Newcastle United manager?

While Newcastle United are looking for their next manager, Spurs have gone ahead and sacked Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno’s sacking comes at the back of Spurs’ 3-0 loss to Manchester United and as per the rumours, Antonio Conte is in line to become the next Tottenham boss.

A statement from Tottenham read: “The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties.”

Newcastle United meanwhile are being linked with various managers and we have a feeling that the name of Nuno Espirito Santo is soon going to be added to that list.

What will Nuno Espirito Santo bring to Newcastle?

The 47-year-old had a torrid time with Spurs, losing as many as seven matches from the 17 he had managed. Under Pochettino, Spurs were a top-four side and Daniel Levy wanted those glory days back as soon as possible.

So naturally, Nuno Espirito Santo was not afforded time at the club.

He won’t have the same problem at Newcastle United though since the new owners are planning a major overhaul meaning if the Portuguese does take charge at the club, he will get at least two full seasons to deploy his plans.

Right now, the Magpies do not have any superstars so Nuno will have a free hand at making world-class signings – players whom he really wants. And then he will be given the time and space to spread out his tactics.

Nuno Espirito Santo is a manager who generally loves to use a 3-4-3 formation but the lack of squad depth and minimal transfer activity at Spurs meant he had to constantly use a 4-2-3-1 system this season.

And to make matters worse, the club’s crown jewel has been misfiring this season.

Overall, the recently sacked Spurs boss can find success as the next Newcastle United manager given that he is backed by the owners both in the transfer market and during the season.

Will Nuno become the next Newcastle United boss?

As per the latest reports, ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery is the current favourite to become the next Newcastle United boss but that was before Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked.

And now that the 47-year-old is without a club, the Magpies are bound to make contact with him in the coming days.

NUFC will have to shell out a hefty amount to bring Emery out of Villarreal but that is not the case with Nuno. Also, Unai Emery did not succeed in the PL when he was with Arsenal but the ex-Spurs boss has proved his worth in multiple seasons with Wolves.
