Iker Casillas could be heading to Liverpool

The Premier League season has barely ended and the transfer gossip vine is already in full swing. Numerous players are now being linked to numerous clubs in some outrageous transfer news.

And it looks as if Iker Casillas is the newest entrant to the transfer saga. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are interested in bringing the Porto goalkeeper to Anfield. Casillas has offers from Turkey, China and Qatar but it looks as if he could be Merseyside bound.

While this is just preliminary news but it could very well turn out to be true. Especially after Liverpool have successfully secured a Champions League spot. Klopp would definitely feel that Champions League football would be enticing enough to bring Casillas to Liverpool.

Liverpool had played some really attacking football during the previous season. But when it comes to defensive capabilities, they have a lot of room for improvement. The Reds have conceded 42 goals in the Premier League, the third-highest amongst the top seven teams.

Hence Klopp would definitely feel that bringing in such an experienced goalkeeper would be a big step towards defensive stability.

Having left Real Madrid under emotional circumstances Iker Casillas joined Porto and has been at the club for two seasons now. But he is out of contract this summer and has not yet signed an extension. This would certainly mean that he is club hunting. And by the looks of it, Liverpool can be the Spaniard’s next destination.

Casillas conceded just 16 goals for Porto in the previous season. This just goes on to show that he still hasn’t lost his ability to play at the highest level
