Rangers vs Leipzig

Rangers FC lost their first game of the new season to Celtic during the Old Firm Derby this past weekend and with that, the bubble that had been created around Steven Gerrard’ side was burst.

The Gers were outplayed in almost every department of the pitch as the Bhoys came out with the much deserved three points.

But the Light Blues fans have since the defeat been pointing at the Ryan Jack foul which was overlooked by the referee immediately following which Olivier Ntcham scored the only goal of the game.

The media has been abuzz with the failures of referee Willie Collum during the night and for good reason – since the Ryan Jack foul wasn’t the only incident which was overlooked by him.

The referee also missed out on a tussle between Rangers keeper Allan McGregor and Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer where the Gers No 1 clearly lashed out at the defender.

If the officials had seen the incident they the outcome of the match could have been a whole lot different and even Steven Gerrard agreed after the match that his keeper was at fault.

Now after all the talks, Ajer has finally spoken out about the incident but oddly enough the defender has chosen to be very political when talking about it.

Speaking to the media, the defender said: “That’s what can happen in the battle. It’s a tough place the Scottish league. I am very used to getting in these situations. That you can get into such situations, this can happen in football.

“If he kicked – or just tried to get me – I will not comment. The most important thing is that we won 1-0. That’s what we’re left with. The most important thing was the result.”

These remarks from Kristoffer Ajer is surely a bit shocking given that Old Firm rivals will usually not let go of any opportunity to belittle their opponents.

But we have a feeling that Brendan Rodgers’ side have made their point by picking up the crucial three points and this oddly political answer from Ajer will inflict more damage to Allan McGregor and his teammates.
