Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi is eager to return to Celtic FC after spending the 2019-20 season on loan at Parkhead, as per Football Insider.

The 25-year-old had a decent time at Celtic, playing in 10 Premiership games, scoring four goals and providing two assists and as per some rumours, even Neil Lennon wants him back at the club.

The report claims: “Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has told friends he is keen on re-signing for Celtic, Football Insider understands.

“The 25-year-old spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Parkhead and made a big early impact before suffering a foot injury.

“A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Elyounoussi is open to a transfer this summer as he does not want to be on the fringes at St Mary’s Stadium.”

While the Celtic fans will love to see Mohamed Elyounoussi back at the club for one more season but there are two major issues standing in between this deal right now.

The first one is that Neil Lennon is prioritising a move for Fraser Forster and only then will the manager move to his other targets which is not great news for Elyounoussi.

The second big issue for Celtic FC is that the winger is also wanted by Spanish side Real Sociedad and they are willing to spend as much as £8million for him in the summer.

If the La Liga side are really keen to spend so much money on the 25-year-old then there’s no way Southampton will want to send him back on loan to Celtic FC next season.

The Bhoys do have the financial might to spend the required amount to sign Elyounoussi in the summer but first Lennon will want to tighten his other areas before making a move for the Saints man.
