Celtic FC might eventually fail to sign 24-year-old winger Gyrano Kerk from Eredivisie side FC Utrecht, as per reports.

The Bhoys had tried to sign the Amsterdam-born lad a couple of months ago but the player was not too keen to join them due to his wish of playing for an English club.

He had said, as reported: “Lots of clubs asked about Kerk, but they never turned into actual offers. The only club who actually made a bid was Celtic.

“I’m surprised we did not receive more interest to be honest because he is a player who is constantly a threat and involved in most of our goals.”

And just as Celtic FC were preparing to make another move for the winger this summer, Utrecht coach John Van den Brom has admitted that the player will not be sold for cheap during the upcoming transfer window.

“It can always be that a player leaves. There will always be opportunities to sell players – but at a good price,” Van den Brom has admitted.

“We don’t have to sell. In any case, it is still quiet on the transfer market. I think it will remain that way for the next two months.

“But in September, the circus will start again. Then there will be clubs for Gyrano.”

Right now, TransferMakrt values Gyrano Kenk at £3.60 million which should not be a major cause of concern for the SPFL side but the winger still has three years left on his current deal meaning the Dutch side will quote significantly higher than his original market value.

Some experts also think Kenk will himself reject a move to Parkhead this summer due to his wish of playing in England.

Right now no major English club is interested in signing him but with 11 goals and 12 assists during the 2019/20 campaign, we are confident that some team or the other will come sniffing around in the coming few months.
