Young Bukayo Saka has been one of the standout players for Arsenal during the ongoing Premier League season and according to Ian Wright, the 18-year-old is the future of the club.

Despite being an attacker, Bukayo Saka has played as a makeshift left-back this season but he’s been more than effective in this newfound role at the Emirates.

Ian Wright thinks Arsenal might have a tough time holding onto the England U19 international but has also admitted that the North London club is the right place for him to develop his skills.

“He’s right him and his representatives to hold out as best they can because he’s the future of the club,” Wright told DAZN (via Football London).

“They cannot afford to let a player like this leave. When you look at what Callum Hudson-Odoi has done and he’s a year younger.

“The contract he signed, Saka’s representatives will be saying: ‘Why should I sign for any less?’

“I believe he will sign but I do think him and his reps are doing the right thing by dragging it out to get the best deal they can. Arsenal is the right place for him at the moment.

“For me, he’s a better winger. “It’s just because of his ability and how good he is that he can play that position.

“Ashley [Cole] turned out to be one of the best full-backs in the world but this guy is better further forward.”

Can Arsenal hold onto Bukayo Saka?

Bukayo Saka has one year left on his current contract at the club and there have been rumours that league leaders Liverpool are eager to sign him up this summer.

Klopp seems to be a fan of the teenager and wants him on board before the next season begins.

But despite the limbo in contract negotiations, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he is not ready to part ways with Saka. After the return of Kieran Tierney, many thought Bukayo Saka will be sold off this summer but the Gunners boss intends to use him further up the pitch in a more advanced role – his natural position.

The 18-year-old and his people are obviously demanding a significant pay rise in his new deal which is why the contract talks might not resolve this summer. Yet, we are pretty confident the player will not be offloaded at the end of the 2019-20 season.
