Chelsea travel to St James’ Park this weekend in order to take on Newcastle United in the Premier League and according to Charlie Nicholas, the Blues could make merry this Saturday.

Right now, the Magpies are dealing with a series of injury concerns with as many as nine players in the treatment room including both long-term and short-term injuries.

The likes of Manquillo, Jack Colback and recently Paul Dummett have been ruled out for the Chelsea this weekend while players like Yedlin and Saint-Maximin will have to go through late fitness tests in order to determine their availability.

And according to Nicholas, all these injuries have really limited the options of Steve Bruce which is why Chelsea really shouldn’t have a problem in picking up all three points this weekend.

He wrote to Sky Sports: “I have never seen injuries like it at Newcastle. It may have been Rochdale but Steve Bruce wanted his side to get through.

“He is not particularly fighting a relegation battle but how things could materialise could mean that they end up doing so. There is still a lot of work to done.

“Newcastle are sitting on 26 points and may need 40 to survive – we are looking at around four wins and two draws. They may have to play this like an away game.

“The fans will not like it but they are down to the bare bones.

“Chelsea are strong away from home and can hit on the counter-attack if Newcastle leave that option open.”

If Chelsea can manage to pick up all three points this weekend they there’s a very big chance of them opening up an eight-point lead for the fourth spot since Man United take on Liverpool on Sunday and with the way the Anfield outfit are playing right now, no one expects them to be beaten by Manchester United.
