Mason Mount Chelsea

Chelsea have completely lost the plot as they have won just 10 Premier League games this season and they currently find themselves 12th on the table.

The Blues haven’t won a match in their previous eight attempts and they are staring at yet another defeat as they prepare to face league leaders Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The Gunners go into this match at the back of a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City but Mikel Arteta’s side are miles ahead of their London rivals so beating them will be an uphill task for Chelsea.

Frank Lampard has failed to steady the ship as the interim manager so all eyes are now on Todd Boehly to see who he brings on as the next permanent boss. The Chelsea owner seems to have convinced Mauricio Pochettino to come into the club but as per reports, the Argentine is going to take charge in June.

Honestly, the result of this London derby won’t have any effect on Chelsea’s league position but right now, the players are playing for pride and as a showcase for the next manager who’s coming in.

Chelsea’s team news and injured players:

The injury list is still massive for the Stamford Bridge outfit and several first-team regulars are ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Perhaps the biggest blow is Reece James who is out until the summer with a hamstring injury. Midfielder Mason Mount is also ruled out and given his contract situation, he could have played his last game for the Blues.

Lampard told the press last week: ‘Reece will be unavailable for the rest of the season, Mason Mount the same. He had a hamstring injury in the midweek game (vs Madrid), he got through it but then had a scan, and he’s out.’

Marc Cucurella is also unavailable which means Ben Chilwell will play as the left wing-back. Koulibaly is recovering from a muscle injury but the centre-back will hopefully return to action against Arsenal.

The injury list is long but thankfully, Lampard also has a massive squad and he’s sure to make several changes to the starting line up that lost to Brentford.

Mudryk and Aubameyang came off the bench against the Bees and at least one of them will get a start against the Gunners. Auba will love to score against his former side but we don’t think the Chelsea boss is going to use him up front.

William Saliba is ruled out with a back injury which is why Lampard is likely to use the pace of Joao Felix up front while Mudryk operates on the left side of attack.

N’Golo Kante has been playing as the third attacker since his return from injury and because the midfielder has a tremendous work rate, he won’t be dropped against a top side like Arsenal.
